MB-963 Underwater Epoxy Coating: A Green Innovation Now Powering Global Infrastructure

Recently, Mbeibu's independently developed MB-963 underwater epoxy coating adhesive was successfully registered as a scientific and technological achievement in Zhejiang Province after evaluation at the scientific and technological achievement appraisal meeting and review by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology. It obtained the *Zhejiang Provincial Scientific and Technological Achievement Registration Certificate*. This achievement represents a major breakthrough in underwater corrosion resistance and bonding performance, significantly enhancing underwater anti-corrosion and adhesion capabilities, and provides an innovative solution for the development of high-performance underwater environmentally friendly coatings in China.  

 

On March 25, 2025, Hangzhou Feibu Technology Appraisal Center organized an expert panel to hold the appraisal meeting for the "MB-963 Underwater Epoxy Coating Adhesive" project. Hangzhou Meibu Materials Technology Co., Ltd. served as the primary R&D unit and technical lead for this project. The project utilizes specially designed toughening microspheres with a hard-soft-hard triple-layer structure as toughening modifiers. By introducing iron metal components during the preparation of the core-shell microspheres, the toughness, impact resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance of the toughening microspheres were further improved. Additionally, odorless reactive diluents replaced conventional diluents, making the product environmentally friendly and safe for human use.  

 

The application scope of the projects achievements includes:  

- Anti-corrosion treatment of underwater metal structures  

- Surface sealing and coating treatment of underwater concrete  

- Bonding treatment of underwater concrete and metal structures  

 

To date, this technological achievement has been successfully applied in projects such as the UAE water intake pipeline, China's South-to-North Water Diversion Middle Route Project, the SPIC Guangxi Changzhou Hydroelectric Complex, Fujian Lianjiang Shanzi Hydroelectric Complex, CPI Huanghe Gongboxia Hydropower Station, and Pankou Hydropower Station. User feedback has been positive, demonstrating significant economic and social benefits.
